This past weekend our little family loaded up and headed to St. George so that I could participate in a “Sisters Weekend”. I think I have the best in-laws ever. When was the last time you climbed into your sister-in-law’s mini van, and instantly felt “at home”, or exactly where you needed/wanted to be? Who wants to be in a mini van? Well, I do. When it’s my sister-in-law’s.
Who has a mother-in-law that isn’t afraid to become a “groupie” when your favorite musical performers hit the stage? Um, I do.
Do you have in-laws that are actually friends—as in, you can go a long time without talking to them, but then when you get together it’s like you’ve never been apart? Does everyone laugh WITH their in-laws until tears flow?
Guys. I do. I hope this is a common thing.
We were able to attend Time Out for Women (Thank you Whitney P. for the ticket!!) and watch and listen to Mercy River (along with Hank Smith, Eric Huntsman, Jenny Oaks Baker, Meg Johnson, Mary Ellen Edmunds, Wendy Ulrich, Tim Ballard, & Lisa Valentine Clark) perform. You aren’t familiar with Mercy River, you say? Well get out from that rock you’re living under! They just released a Christmas Album! A friend from high school is in the group (She can rap Vanilla Ice--kind of a big deal—especially if you’ve seen me wipe down the kitchen counters when that song comes on…) and they’ve been a favorite of mine for years. It was a great program altogether. I came away feeling uplifted. Plus we indulged in a sweet waffle from Waffle Love (has everyone tried waffles from this place? If not, drop everything—now. Get to Utah. Eat waffles. Love. Repeat.)
Saturday night, after a yummy dinner, we headed to the Tuacahn Amphitheatre to be swooned by the sweet sound of David Archuleta’s voice. The backdrop for the concert were red rock mountains and a starlit sky. I can’t get enough of this guy. I can’t. His voice…
So. Who knows him? Who has a connection so that I can meet him in Pocatello next month. Anyone? Anyone? ;)
(It was so fun to see my brother and his family at the concert too…great taste in music obviously runs in the family).
It was a great weekend—so fun to be with family. Not everyone can call their in-laws friends, but I’m so grateful that I can.
