Giving Thanks--Better late than Never

Running the "Run for your Hart" 5k. Um....Brr?
I know. Thanksgiving was forever ago.

But, when you live in the boonies, the internet works on its own time, and if there is a hint of freezing anywhere, it's going to be down and out. So, while it's up and running, I'm posting all that I can since I don't know what Mother Nature has in store for our "Little House on the Prairie" internet.

Now, where was I?

Oh, yes. Giving thanks.

(Whoops. I guess I'll go ahead and mention that I am thankful for any internet service I get.)

This year was a little bit different from years past since usually Ace and I get two Thanksgiving dinners. This year there was only one, but there was enough food for 10! I was so glad that Ace's sister was up here to cook the turkey and have us over (otherwise it would have been frozen burritos, but hey, we would have been thankful for those too...). I made my first ever pumpkin pie. Who knew it took more than just dumping the can of pumpkin stuff in a pie crust? I certainly didn't, but I learned that as I was reading the label in the grocery store. I don't recall ever having to buy ginger (let alone know where to find it in a store), but I'm certain I've got enough for next year too. Sign me up for the pumpkin pie.

Before the eating festivities, I ran a 5k as per tradition in the Hart family (this is the second year...that makes it a tradiditon right?) It was freezing cold and it was also dumping snow, but I got through it as I thought about my brothers and sisters running it in Idaho Falls (and Driggs,Oklahoma and Utah...right Jeff? Kat? Shauna? Cheri?) I'm not going to lie, I knew I was just going to stuff myself with all kinds of food, but running somehow justified that...
The next day (Black Friday, if you will) we hit some sales, got some deals, and didn't have to deal with a huge crowd. Did I mention we slept until 7 a.m., and still got the deals? I think that, along with the promise of fine tuned pumpkin pie is plenty of incentive to gaurantee visitors next year.
Right?

Your winter wonderland looks awesome!!! We still have not seen more than a dusting of snow, and I actually am having a hard time getting into the christmas spirit without it! Maybe its just me, but waking up at 7 feels like getting up early!!!!

Uhhh....yeah, sure we went for a run on Thanksgiving. The only difference is that I'm a little to advanced for a mere 5k, so I went ahead and did a marathon down here in Salt Lake. :) Next year maybe you can come join us with your pumpkin pie.

That's awesome that you didn't have to get up early to get the deals. Corey and I were up all night. i told him the best plan was to drive 1-2 hours away to the boones to go to Target instead of waiting up in the cold, but oh, well. He got his deals, and I got mine!

Wow!! You may live in the boonies, but it's GORGEOUS!!!! I'm jealous! I wish we had more space where we live.
