Not Up to Par

If you're sick, or have been sick in the last 2 weeks, raise your hand. For those of you who can't tell, Ace, Gimme, Mulligan, & Birdie are all raising their hand. It has been a very congested, runny nose, cough til you vomit, couple of weeks. Thankfully everyone seems to be in recovery mode except for Birdie who picked up the bug when she sucked on Mulligan's sipper cup (but yeah for her, for figuring out how to drink from a sippee!) while he was under the weather.

Anyway, yesterday I was just going to keep Mulligan & Birdie home from church, and Ace was going to take Gimmee. Well, when it was time to leave to get to church, Ace wasn't home from picking up his parents at the airport. I happened to mention to Gimme that we would just stay home from church. Any onlooker would have thought I had ripped her favorite thing right out of her hands. She was devastated.

Now, I know everyone reading this is thinking, "My, what a righteous parents, instilling such a love of going to church in their children at such a young age." Well, that's is a slight misconception. :)

Last week, after a major fight about going to church, I promised (bribed) Gimme I would take her to get a new church dress if she would just get dressed and get out the door. Well, she did, so I kept my word and last Monday we went out and bought her a couple of new dresses (that she really needed!) and she had been counting down the days til Sunday so she could "spin" her new dress at church. When not going to church became an option, she was very upset, so to save ourselves from another fight, we loaded up (Birdie in her p.j.'s) and went to church.

When Ace got to church, I left with Birdie and Mulligan (who was fast asleep), and sweet little Gimme went for the long haul and stayed for Primary, spinning every chance she could. I was glad that she was persistent in going to church. I had every excuse in the book not to go to church yesterday, but had I not gone, I would have missed out on the sacrament and the chance to feel the spirit.

So thanks Gimme for loving dresses so much that you want to "spin" them in primary. Thanks for reminding me that finding excuses to miss church is not "par" for our family.

I loved that post! It is so easy sometimes to just stay home. Tell Gimmee that her dress is way cute, loved the spin. And can I say she looked so much like Ace in that second picture. You are an awesome mom look forward to seeing you.

I'm glad you're instilling a love for attending church in your little ones. Maybe it starts out as needing to show off dresses, but it's still a good lesson!

I love your names for everyone. My brother in law always called me ACE. And I love her dress. Super cute. And a girl can never have too many, right? Plus, we love see you guys there, whether in PJ's or not.

So, sorry about the comment thing. I posted it and then realize I had taken comments off the MPBD blog, but now it is back on, so go ahead and leave your comments there. Sorry for the confusion.

okay, even more sorry now. I thought I'd fixed it and then another friend had the same problem, so I went to check it out. Apparently just selecting 'show' instead of 'hide' didn't work and about two hours later, I've finally fixed it. It was a lot more complicated than it should have been, but that's the problem when you mess with the html codes. Yeesh! NOw I think I'll go to bed.

Leave one more comment. You get one for everything you do. So, one should just be a regular 'ol comment, one comment for following, and one for the button. So you should have at least three!

And we've all been sick around here too. My latest: bronchial pneumonia. Fun, I know.
