Book Club Biz

Summertime is book club time.  Every week some of the kids in the hood gather to be rewarded for the reading they've done.  We try to approach it differently each summer.  Once we did BINGO, once we did beads in jars, etc.

This year, the kids got to color in a chunk of a flower for their weekly reading.  As they colored in the sections, they earned different rewards.  So far, they've earned Star Lite Skating, Sand Dunes, Color Fight, Pizza Party, Water Fight, Night Games, Picnic, Bubbles and Whipped Cream, Rexburg Rapids, and Movie Night.  Let's just say, it's been a fun summer.

We're hoping to finish off the sno cones and slip and slide this week so that we can put together an Amazing Race for them around the neighborhood.

Since Birdie is the only one of my children that LOVES to read, this book club method is the only way to get my other kids to read over the summer.  It keeps them motivated.
