Home Away from Home

Ace and I have grown accustomed to our new surroundings.

2012-06-01 15.35.37

Our hands are raw from all the sanitizer we’ve used, going in and out of the CVICU.

But we’re pretty comfortable at our hang out.

The hospital thinks they are going to turn our little “cove” into an information center (hence the desk), but I’m afraid they are going to have a fight on their hands to pry me out of there.  There is much more privacy there than in the main waiting area.  Plus, I get to see all the people—nurses, doctors, x-ray techs, etc. going in and out of the CVICU.  It’s easier for me to keep tabs on everything when I’ve got front row seats.  No.  I don’t have control issues at all. :)

Our little man is doing the best he can to adapt to his surroundings.

(Pre-Surgery…about 14 IV’s going)

It isn’t that fun for him, but he is strong--

See, He’s flexing his muscles. (post surgery 06/07/12)

He is taking his time recovering.  He had another surgery on the 15th for his diaphragm (diaphragm plication). It was paralyzed in an arched position and it was interfering with the full expansion of his right lung.  He was also extubated, and then re-intubated 36 hours later.  I have issues with the ventilator, and we’ll leave it at that. (I won’t fully disclose my actions, but the door slammed…it was actually an accident, but no one would have guessed that.  :)  I really love our social worker—just throwing that out there.)

Post diaphragm surgery Bogey got a fever and more fluid on his lungs so it wasn’t inflating as the Dr.’s had hoped.

Today, after a dose or two of antibiotics, he is doing a little better.  His eyes have been opened, and he is much more responsive to me being in his face.

At the end of the day, Ace and I walk “home” and crash.

I can’t complain about our lodging because looky looky--

A can of Diet Coke for $ .25, whenever I want.

What a deal.

Wow-25 cents! What a deal! You'll need a root canal in no time flat! ;) LOVE the picture of him smiling at you--that is completely precious!! RMH=not half bad. The zebra print pillowcases have gotta help you keep upbeat! Hope you all are home soon.

Yes Rachelle I am very concerned about you getting a root canal! So I was thinking at this point you may as well just borrow one of those 14 dad gone IVs from Jayce and hook yourself up with some diet coke!
