Just Another Day at the Doctor's Office

Back in the day when I went to Rick's College (now BYU-Idaho), my roommate and best friend, Stephanie McFadden and I registered for a First Aid class at 7:00 in the morning every other day. I don't know why we did that, it was our first year of college, it wasn't like we were going to bed early. Nonetheless, we stayed in the class, and forced ourselves out of bed (most days). Pretty soon, in the dead of winter it got harder to wake up.

So, Steph and I decided we needed to have a plan-to sleep in as long as we could, but yet, still get our hot chocolate mugs ready to go, and get to class on time. Before we knew it, we were racing each other, and the clock! One night/morning I fell asleep with my clothes on (if I remember correctly, it was a pair of black pants and a button down the front shirt--very stylish I might add). The next morning (I should say, a few hours later), I woke up at 6:50 a.m.! I only had 10 minutes to get to class. So I lept out of bed, slipped my shoes on, brushed my teeth while prepping the hot cocoa, grabbed my books and Steph and I sprinted up the hill to class. We may have been one minute late, but I think the professor took one look at my wrinkled slacks and shirt and took pity on us, so that one minute didn't count against us.

After that, we wondered why we even bothered getting ready for that class in the mornings, when we could just get "ready" the night before. After a complete scan of availible bachelors in the class, we figured our future husbands weren't there, so we didn't even try to impress anyone.

Why the blast from the past you ask?

Well, I scheduled a Doctor's Appointment for Mulligan and Birdie at 8:45 a.m. My past history hasn't been all that successful as far being "up to par" for the Doc. So, last night, after dinner and baths for the kids, I seriously contemplated getting them dressed and ready to go, so that we would be sure to be our "best" when we walked through the doors of the office.

But, before I knew it, Birdie had fallen asleep and Mulligan was in his p.j.'s, so I just let it go, but don't think that before my head hit the pillow, the thought to get them ready right then, didn't cross my mind.

Well, I needn't have feared a bit! This morning, I got everybody up (well, everybody got me up) and dressed and all three kids even had breakfast! (And no, it wasn't doughnuts or Diet Coke). We dropped Gimme off at school, and we sailed right on through both appointments. Both kids being "normal" in every aspect. (Except Birdie is the size of a 13 month old, and she's 19 months...she must get her slenderness from her mother... ;)

I hate to say it, but I might be going pro on the whole Doctor Appointment thing.

No worries, little birdie could borrow some excess weight from her (younger) cousin little M - she doesn't seem to be lacking in that area of life...great!

lol!!! Ah, the college days. I think just about everyone who has attended college can relate/has similar stories. Thanks for the "getting kids ready for the doctor's tips".

I so remember you telling me that story at the PR. Those were the days! Glad to hear that you are becoming a pro in the Doctor area.

Do mean pro on the Doc in the MORNING thing??

I am impressed. I never schedule any thing that early in the A.M.

Well done wo-man!
