May Daze

I'm not really sure where the month of May has gone, but I do know, that I haven't accomplished much...well, except Mother of the Year...that was big . As much as I wish my kids were perfect (you know, like their mom!) they're not. Earlier this month...oh, the day before Mother's Day, I took the trio to my nephew's baseball tournament. Would you believe that Birdie never once made any indication that she felt hot--like the sun on her face was bothering her. No, not a "peep" out of her. So Mother's Day morning, she wakes up with a sunburn on her face. Not minor. Where was the sunscreen? Oh, we keep it tucked away till "summer". She's fine now, and the sunscreen's on the table. It's our centerpiece.

Also on Mother's Day, Gimme had to give her first ever talk in Primary. She talked about how baptism and our baptismal covenants are like treasures. She took a treasure box and "jewels" as a visual aid. She did very well, and she looked beautiful!

Well that brings us to Memorial Day. After church we drove up to Menan where Kimball is buried. It is still so werid to think he is gone...I don't think I will ever be able to really grasp the reality of that. Instead of flowers, my sister Marilyn has her 3 boys write their name and a little message on golf balls to "tee up" in front of the headstone. I think it is a great tradition. For the fam that couldn't make it, here are a few pics.

Three of the boys in our family have the middle name Kimball, here they are:Other random pictures that don't have to do with Memorial Day, but were taken at the cemetary:

Birdie, just doing the Dew...she's one thirsty girl.

(of course there isn't really Mountain Dew in that vat. It's formula. She's off the bottle!! No, just kidding. Ace fills that tank with Powerade for work and it lasts all day...what a bargain! :)

I was just going along reading your current post an laughing a little at the sunscreen thing (my boys were super crispy last weekend too! oops!), when I got to the memorial day part. I had no idea Kimball passed away. I don't know where I've been but wanted to tell you I'm sorry. I guess it was a few years ago but I hadn't heard. He was such a great guy and I'm just so sorry for your loss. I love the pic of the "kimball" boys. Super special!

Were you serious about the Mother of the Year thing? Because I would totally believe it, but wanted to check before congratulating you because I can be gullible sometimes.

Sweet Rachelle,
I can't imagine life without any of my beloved siblings. Just the thought of it brings me to tears, so I know your reality is so very painful. I wish there were a way to understand better why there is such pain in this life. It seems to come to us all in one form or another, some more obvious than others.

Your pictures are darling. It was so nice to visit with you guys this weekend! I'm trying to remember the sunscreen!
